Regarding Formaldehyde in Kährs Hardwood Flooring
Formaldehyde is present in our daily life at different levels. It is present in newly installed ureaformaldehyde foam insulation, manufactured wood products such as plywood, particleboard, paneling, lumber and other materials usually sold through liquidators and home improvement depots.

Kährs has been aware of the irritation formaldehyde causes for many years. Germany, with its E1 - Norm standard, is tougher on this subject than any country in the world. Several years ago Kährs contracted the top specialist on this subject to make test recommendations.

Determination of Formaldehyde
Kährs 5/8" wood floor was placed in a test chamber where temperature, relative humidity, and the rate of air change in agreement with International Standards and recommendations.

The concentration of formaldehyde is expressed in Mg/M3. This is a measure of formaldehyde emission from the test object.

Kährs Result 0.01 mg/m3 (.05 parts per million parts of air sample)

Kährs UV Acrylic Finish
Does not contain any free solvents and is totally free from formaldehyde and formaldehyde emitting components.

Kährs Stains
Does not contain any free solvents and is totally free from formaldehyde and formaldehyde emitting components.

Kährs Landobond Adhesive
Does not contain any free solvents and is totally free from formaldehyde and formaldehyde emitting components.

Based on the results of these tests, Kährs prefinished hardwood floors do not pose a health hazard.
